It’s likely that you’ll be spending the better part of this 4th of July outdoors.
Relaxing by a pool, sporting, or whoopin’ it up at a good ole’ fashioned hootenanny.
And it’s a strong possibility you’ll be capping off the day with a little bit of grillin’. Or chillin’.
That last sentence makes me want to poke myself in the eye.
I take that back. “Chillin’ like a villain” makes me want to poke myself in the eye. Chillin’ minus the villain just makes me want to stomp on my big toe.
Details, schmetails.
As we were: You’re probably going to be outside for some length of time at some point in the day on 4th of July. And I don’t want you to get dehydrated. Because I care about you. Really. Don’t believe the hype about me being a big bitch. That Mr. Hausfrau needs to stay off the computer.
So, I made you limeade – an extra special limeade with rosemary. Yes! Rosemary! I swear it doesn’t taste like a lamb chop, and I swear it’s just the refreshing thing you’ll need on a hot day.
And it probably doesn’t hurt that it pairs pretty nicely with vodka.
A hootenanny it shall be!
Rosemary Limeade
1 cup lime juice (from 6-8 limes)
3/4 cup sugar
5 cups plus 6 tablespoons water
2 5-inch long sprigs of rosemary
In a small pot, combine the sugar, 6 tablespoons water, and rosemary. Bring to a boil and let the mixture boil until all the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool. Once cooled, strain the syrup and discard the rosemary.
In a large pitcher, combine the rosemary syrup with the lime juice and 5 cups of water. Stir until completely blended. Chill until ready to serve.
Yields approximately 6 cups of limeade.

Such a gorgeous, summery drink. I think it’d be delightful with gin, and I’m not even a huge gin person!
This looks so refreshing, Sally! I’d add some vodka and sip it by the pool and feel fancy
I made this limeade on Friday and it was so delicious that I’m gonna make it today again!
I used 5 limes and 2 lemons though.
Thanks a lot for that wonderful recipe
